Position Title

High School Art Teacher

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required

  • Able to meet Arizona’s Standards for highly qualified teacher (at least 24 credit hours in Visual Arts courses)

  • Waldorf Certification preferred


Essential Job Functions:

  • Prepare lesson plans and teach art classes in grades 9-12 

  • Attend faculty meetings and professional development

  • Participate in mentoring and evaluation

  • Complete Grading and student progress reports and narratives

  • Maintain and submit class attendance at the high school 

  • Meet with parents at parent conferences and class meetings as needed

  • If Waldorf Certified, assist class teachers with art pertinent to curriculum

Experience Requirements:  Prior classroom teaching experience in one or more of the following areas: painting/drawing, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture, metalworking.

Skills:

  • Enthusiasm for bringing an engaging, hands on, artistic approach to teaching 

  • Exemplary classroom management and discipline

  • Strong listening, verbal, written and interpersonal  communication


Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of visual arts

  • Knowledge of public school operations




Ability

  • Relate to, motivate, and challenge children and staff.  

  • Leadership in working with students, staff, parents and the community

  • Ability to collaborate with art and other faculty on curriculum

  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and parents

  • Willingness to learn about Waldorf education and incorporate Waldorf principles of child development into teaching


Physical Demands:


Frequent: Standing, walking

Occasional: Sitting, lifting and carrying


Education required: Bachelor’s Degree


Licenses, Certifications, Bonding and/or Testing Required:  AZ DPS Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card, Clear TB Test, CPR/First Aid/Bloodborne Pathogens Certifications.
