Desert Marigold School is seeking an experienced, passionate, dedicated Grades Teacher to join our school community. We are seeking a candidate that will inspire students and be instrumental in creating a warm, nurturing, and imaginative classroom environment that supports the development of our students.
Job Purpose Statement: As a member of the faculty at Desert Marigold School, a Class Teacher will will plan, organize, and implement developmentally appropriate instruction that follows our school curriculum and Waldorf pedagogy. The teacher will collaborate in the grades realm and align lessons and practices with the Public Waldorf curriculum to prepare our students to meet the realities of the present.
Salary Range: Full Time - Salary Schedule $40,000 plus experience and credentials.
Hours: The full-time position will have approximately 24 teaching hours and other responsibilities as specified in the DMS Faculty Expectations document. The number of hours for hourly teachers will be allocated to assure coverage throughout the grade levels, based upon experience and qualifications.

Required Qualifications
Waldorf Teacher Training certificate or willingness to begin our training courses prior to the start of the new year. We offer training opportunities with our summer campus programs.
AZ State Teaching Certificate
Experience Teaching in a Classroom Setting: Previous experience teaching in a classroom setting, ideally in a public charter and/or Waldorf or Waldorf inspired school.
Creative Lesson Planning: Experience with or strongly inspired to develop imaginative lesson plans that incorporate storytelling, art, music, and movement.
Skills to Support a Positive Learning Environment: Experience with classroom management strategies that promote positive interactions and engagement and willingness to align with Waldorf school principles.
Bachelor’s Degree
Willingness to incorporate/maintain Waldorf principles of child development into teaching.
AZ DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card
Essential Job Functions:
Demonstrates knowledge of the developmental curriculum and teaching methods arising from the understanding of child development set forth by Rudolf Steiner.
Develops performance objectives and lesson plans that AZ Sate standards that also reflect the rhythm, timing and activities consistent with the core principles of Public Waldorf education.
Maintains a behavioral climate in his or her classroom conducive to learning, assists in maintaining acceptable student behavior.
Identifies and attempts to meet needs of individual students, is able to develop differentiated lesson plans, and initiates referrals to student support services as necessary.
Communicates with students and parents regarding educational progress. Prepares progress reports and issues grades on time.
Maintains plans and instructional materials in such a way that they can be utilized by substitute teaching personnel when the need arises.
Works cooperatively with administrators, supervisors and colleagues in planning and implementing the educational programs of the school. Will take initiative in a collaborative manner.
Attends weekly faculty meetings, required in-service training. and other meetings as necessary.
Able to meet Arizona’s Standards for highly qualified teachers in subject area being taught.
