Qualifications:
Associates Degree or higher or a Certificate in Early Childhood Education
Familiar with the goals of Waldorf early childhood education
Foundational understanding of child development
Experience working with young children
CPR, First Aid and Blood Borne Pathogens certification
Current TB screening (within past 6 months)
AZ DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card
Maricopa County Food Handler’s Card
Skills:
Works well in collaborative team environment
Ability to work positively and lovingly with young children
Willingness to participate in a physically active day
Artistic striving (willingness to paint, sing, dance, etc with the class)
Interest and ability to follow the example of the lead teacher
Good listening skills and a clear communication
Job Purpose Statement: The kindergarten assistant works closely with the lead kindergarten teacher, supporting in all areas including classroom activities, participation in Early Childhood meetings and in special events throughout the year.
Essential Job Functions: The assistant job entails assisting the lead teacher in the classroom with all the activities of the day, which include:
ensuring the health and safety of all children
help with preparing and serving snack and lunch
domestic arts (dishes, baking, sweeping, ironing, washing, mending, etc.)
sets up for daily indoor and outdoor activities
guiding children in play and activities under the direction of the lead teacher
